Many Poles have heard of the events organised in Stare Jabłonki each summer such as Sielawa Blues for fishers and the Swatch Beach Volley World Tour for sportsmen.

Yet it is not a well known fact that the splendid hotel organising them once was a luxurious hunting lodge of Richard Anders’, an entrepreneur called the Prussian King of Wood. He owned numerous forests and sawmills.

No wonder the new hotel kept the former proprietor’s name. Stare Jabłonki is developing fast thanks to its advantageous location by the lakes Szeląg Wielki and Szeląg Mały. They are worth visiting on a boat. Both lakes are linked with a canal underneath a huge railroad embankment heaped up by prisoners of war. The road passing by, however, is part of the former international road from Paris to Petersburg.
