One of the city's assets is the over ten lakes located inside the administrative bounds of Olsztyn. One of the them, Lake Ukiel, features the municipal beach, which is attended both by locals and tourists in the summertime. Another natural specific is the biggest inner city forest in Europe and several parks.

The city itself has a remarkable old town featuring architectural monuments such as the 14th century Gothic castle of the Bishopric of Warmia and the 14th century St. Jacob co-cathedral.
The Olsztyn „Summer of Arts“ is a festival for music lovers, who will find here rock, folk, jazz, blues and classical music concerts. Yet the festival doesn't lack stage and cabaret performances, parties and children's treats, as well as cinema shows and operas. Taking place every year within the scope of the „Summer of Arts“ from June to September, these events attract both locals and visitors. Most of the events are held on the city's most picturesque stage - the amphitheatre at the foot of the Gothic castle, others are organised in the streets and on the squares of the old town. The „Summer of Arts“ was established in 1996. Since then it was added more and more interesting highlights every year.
